Zhilikam t'°Ralash-Tam'a°
For cultural reasons, the Vulcans never had a form of entertainment like the horror movies of Earth, although this genre is common in other humanoid cultures. The original three 20th Century C.E. Terran Poltergeist movies have entertained the peoples of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants for centuries. The first movie is still considered a classic of this genre. Vulcans have learned important things about humans from this material, although they are just as confused as everyone else about the unexplained disappearance of the older Freeling daughter, Dana, who is not mentioned in the other movies. Many beings consider the third movie to have been a failure and it is unlikely additional films with any of the original cast would have been made. (The third movie was nearly scrapped after Heather O'Rourke died during post-production. A new ending with a body double for her was used to finish the film.)
Some humans in the 20th and 21st Centuries C.E. believed in a "Poltergeist Curse", since several people involved with the movies died before their time, including Heather O'Rourke, who died as a result of a medical misdiagnosis, and Dominique Dunne, who was murdered by an ex-boyfriend.
Below you will find characters and terminology that you might find associated with the original three Poltergeist movies. This page does not deal with any remakes or television series inspired by the original films.
